#1 of 40 Days of Baking: Cookie Week
Think what a better world it would be if we all, the whole world, had cookies and milk about three o'clock every afternoon and then lay down on our blankets for a nap.
- Barbara Jordan
My sister reigns as our family’s queen of spreadsheets, but I’m pretty pleased with the one I created for this little baking experiment…
I feel like this first day of planning and shopping is off to a great start: 10 themes are defined; each theme has a store-bought starter, a family favorite, and a signature bake.
Our first theme is…
Cookie Week
(although my “weeks” are only 4 days long 📆)
Here’s the grocery list for my cookie bakes:
- Betty Crocker Peanut Butter Cookie Mix
- Vegetable Oil
- Shortening
- All-Purpose Flour
- Sugar
- Brown Sugar
- Powdered Sugar
- Baking Soda
- Baking Powder
- Salt
- Vanilla
- Old Fashioned Oats
- Raisins
- Craisins
- Dates
- Pecans
- Milk Chocolate Chips
- Strawberry Jam (or your favorite flavor for PB&J)
- Margarine
- 5 Eggs
- Buttermilk
- Sweet Milk (not needed in a recipe, but wonderful to have on hand when taste-testing cookies!)
Most everything on this week’s list is already in my pantry, so I’ll “shop” there first. I’m sure I’ll also be restocking the staples as we go over the next six weeks. The good news is that by the end of this experiment, I’ll have cleaned out and refreshed my baking basics!
Who’s with me?
See you tomorrow for our first bake 🤩
With love and hugs,
